How Can I Make My Nail Shorter?? 10Pts?

How can I make my nail shorter if I have rhinestone on them?? I need to make my nail shorter so it would be better to take out my contacts. Im AFRAID if the rhinestones MIGHT get into my eye if i file it down..what do u think?? do u think it would work with nail grinder or nail file??
